Device groups and access control
Device groups simplify access management. Instead of assigning individual devices to users, you create groups of devices and grant access to those groups. This approach is useful when managing large inventories or organizing devices by team or project.
A device group can include multiple devices, and a device can belong to more than one group. Similarly, users can be members of multiple groups. This flexibility allows you to organize devices by project, location, or any other logical category.
When creating a device group, you define its name and description, assign users, and select devices. Later, you can edit the group to add or remove devices or update user access. Removing all devices from a group deletes the group entirely.
Roles and permissions
The following roles have access to the Devices view:
-
Admin users: Can view devices, manage device groups, and add devices to groups.
-
Lab admin users: Have all admin capabilities plus the ability to connect or disconnect devices, edit device properties, release devices, reload templates, and set application baselines.
Understanding these roles helps you determine which tasks you can perform.
