Inject a fingerprint or face ID

On an open device, you can inject a passing or failing fingerprint or face ID, depending on the device model. Fingerprint is available on iPhone 8 or earlier and Android 6 or later. Face ID is available on iPhone X or later and is not currently supported on Android devices.

Prerequisites: You must preinstall the application, enable sensor instrumentation on the application, and keep the application in the front during testing.

To inject a fingerprint or Face id:

  1. Open the application you want to test and ensure that it stays in the foreground.
  2. In the widgets pane, click the Environment button .
  3. On the Environment tab, click Fingerprint or Face id.
  4. In the Fingerprint or Face id widget, do the following: 

    1. To test a fingerprint or face id, select any one of the following options:

      • To test a successful authentication with a valid fingerprint, click Passed.

      • To test an an unsuccessful authentication with an invalid fingerprint, click Failed.

    2. To specify the testing method, select the required checkbox next to these options:

      • Execute the selected action on the device.

      • Add the selected action to the test.

    3. Click APPLY.

    4. (Optional) To return to the Environment tab, at the top, click Back.
