Connectivity to internal test environments

Perfecto supports multiple ways to reach internal or non‑public test environments. Choose an approach based on whether the environment is publicly reachable, how quickly you need connectivity, and whether you need a long‑term, scalable setup.

Choosing an approach

Use the following guide to decide which option fits your situation:

  • Environment is publicly reachable: Use an allow list (IP allow list) approach when possible.

  • Environment is not publicly reachable and you need long‑term access: Use a site‑to‑site IPsec VPN (preferred approach).

  • You need temporary access while a site‑to‑site VPN is being provisioned: Use Perfecto Connect as a fallback.

Connectivity options (high level)

The following sections describe the supported connectivity options for accessing internal or restricted test environments. Each option addresses a different set of network and security requirements, ranging from simple access control for publicly reachable sites to persistent, enterprise‑grade connectivity for fully private environments. Use these sections to understand when each option applies and how they relate to one another.

Allow list (IP allow list)

Use an allow list to ensure reliable access to Perfecto cloud services from within your network. Allow‑listing is typically required to prevent firewall rules, traffic inspection, or security appliances from blocking streaming and control traffic.

Allow‑listing does not provide access to customer‑owned internal environments. For access to non‑public internal sites, use a site‑to‑site IPsec VPN or Perfecto Connect.

Site‑to‑site IPsec VPN (preferred)

Use a site‑to‑site IPsec VPN to provide reliable, scalable, long‑term access to internal test environments from the Perfecto private cloud.

To learn more, see Site‑to‑site IPsec VPN for internal access.

Perfecto Connect (temporary fallback)

Use Perfecto Connect only when a site‑to‑site VPN cannot be provisioned in a timely manner. Because this tunnel is ad hoc and client‑initiated, it can introduce higher latency and depends on the local machine running it.

To learn more, see Perfecto Connect.

Network quality and reliability

Regardless of the connectivity method, network conditions and security controls can affect how quickly internal sites load and how reliably requests complete.

To learn more, see Network best practices.

Next steps

If your internal environment is not publicly reachable and you need long‑term access, start with site‑to‑site IPsec VPN.

If you need temporary access immediately, use Perfecto Connect while planning the VPN.
